Help Shape Our Remote Learning Plan

Your Voice Matters!

The coronavirus crisis has thrown all of us into a learning situation that is highly unusual. Instead of learning together in our classroom, we are now doing school online. This is new for all of us -- students, teachers, administrators -- everyone.

The Revere school district is introducing a new plan for how we will learn remotely in the 4th quarter, which starts Monday. Some of what we do online will look similar to what we’ve been doing. Some will be new, including grading and credit for assignments.

The new remote learning plan is posted here on the RPS website. You can find it in four languages if you go to reverek12.org.

What is posted is a DRAFT. This is where you come in: Online school, which could be our reality for the rest of the school year, affects you more than it affects anyone else. What is working well for you? What needs to change?

This is an opportunity to tell our district leaders what you want your online learning experience to be.

Directions:
Please read the draft carefully, then open the Google form and provide feedback. This feedback will be used to create a final draft of the plan.

When giving feedback, consider:
  • Is the plan fair?
  • Is the plan clear?
  • Does the plan accomplish the goal of helping you learn?
Follow these criteria:
  • Keep your feedback brief and to the point. Your ideas and reasoning should be just a few sentences.
  • Be professional and courteous. You are writing to professional administrators who have authority and deserve respect. Correct grammar and spelling, and precise word choice are important. Consider your audience.
  • Be honest. Too often, students’ ideas don’t get heard by adults. This is a situation where the adults in charge want to hear from you, so tell them what you think.
  • Act soon. The goal is to post the finalized plan by Sunday night.
Please take this opportunity seriously. I have already emailed Dr. Kelly, our superintendent, and she is expecting to hear your opinions. Message me if you would like help or feedback on what you write before you submit it.
